Not much has been released about Female Prime Minister, but I manage to piece together some information I read from news articles, forums, and weibo posts and compile this list of the major characters in this TV series.

The Princess and Military Officer of White City In case anyone is still interested in the TV adaption (produced by Ruby Lin) of the popular Painted Skin movie , the shooting has been going smoothly and should wrap up next month. I'm not quite sure about the official broadcast date, but you can look at look at these official stills and judge for yourself if you're interested in watching it in the future.

After watching the MV for the opening theme song, my excitement and interest for this series definitely skyrocketed! The cinematography is breathtaking and the costumes are fitting and beautiful.  In motion, they look just as good as the official stills. Even the weird hairdo many of the women sported seems more "normal" onscreen. Take a look for yourself and tell me what you think!

I'll first make a confession about my biases. Before reading Ballad of the Desert novel, I got heavily influenced by the opinions of Sima Qian (a contemporary of Huo Qubing and author of the monumental Chinese history text Records of the Grand Historian ) and some previous TV series I watched. Consequently, I formed quite a negative perception of the historical Huo Qubing.

Apparently the official English name for Beauties without Tears is "In Love with Power" and they changed the Chinese name as well. Henceforth, I'll just use the official English name to refer to this TV series.

This part of the novel differs from the drama. In the drama, Mo Shaoqian just put Tong Xue to bed and spent the rest of the night in her room contemplating about their relationship. In the novel, he...ahem...has other intentions. It's implied that Mo Shaoqian actually has intercourse with a drunken Tong Xue, even though she doesn't remember much of it the next morning.

Yu Zheng, the famous producer of Gong and a ton of other popular TV series, just posted a series of photos on his blog and tagged some cryptic monologue along with each photo. This TV series is expected to air this coming July. Hailanzhu -- Zhuolin, Zhuolin! Everything of our past is clearly imprinted in my heart.
