Painted Skin 2: The Resurrection is a Visual Feast to the Eyes

Image
It has been a very long time since I have a strong urge to watch a movie in theater and right now I wish I can just fly to China to watch Painted Skin II: The Resurrection on the big screen. Currently breaking box-office records, this fantasy epic about a fox demon trading "skin" or body with a disfigured princess is drawing massive viewership and earning accolades for its cinematic achievements.

Theatrical Transformation of Chen Xiao

Image
I was never really an ardent or true fan of a single artist or singer. When I do get obsessed about something, it tends to be about an onscreen couple (e.g. FengMi, Alex Su/Vicki Zhao, Carmen Lee/Louis Koo, etc.) or drama series (e.g. Sealed with a Kiss, Huan Zhu Ge Ge). Rarely would I follow one particular actor religiously. I do have a few actors/actresses I prefer NOT to watch in leading roles and would rather see them in supporting roles. In other words, there are more cases where I prefer not to watch a  drama series because of particular actor/actress than I would purposely watch a drama series just for a particular actor/actress. Due to my exposure to Female Prime Minister, Chen Xiao caught my attention and I began to "study" his filmography. I first heard his name on Spcnet Forum from a fellow hardcore FengMi Shipper and my good buddy, Mango_cake. She seemed to be very fond of him. When I saw his photo, my first reaction  was "Oh young boy with pretty face...

Charming Fanmade MV of Lu Zhen and Gao Zhan

Image
Since I've been a little obsessed with the OTP of Female Prime Minister lately, I would like to share with you all this lovely little fanmade MV I found on the Baidu Forum. The original creator cut out all the good scenes from the trailer, rearranged the sequence, and seamlessly weaved it into the melody of this pretty Mandarin song.  The song is called Xiangsiyin 相思引which I roughly translated as "Incurring Lovesickness."

Female Prime Minister: Lu Zhen's Letter to Gao Zhan

Image
When I was watching the 30-minute trailer of Female Prime Minister, I got really curious about the letter our handsome hero read before he started to spit blood all over the place. Luckily, someone on the Chinese forum managed to get a good screen capture of the letter and transcribed it.

New 11-Minute Trailer for In Love with Power

Image
I've been so absorbed with the new Female Prime Minister trailer that I totally don't feel the strong excitement I once did for Hawick Lau's new drama In Love with War. My curosity and excitement for Female Prime Minister has completely consumed me! I hope I can get myself back in In Love with Power mode when the drama comes out this summer (speculated release date).

Official Female Prime Minister 30-Minute Trailer with English Subtitles!

It's finally out! The trailer succeeds in invoking a lot of raw feelings from me. Let's just say it both excites and disappoints me.

Release Date of Female Prime Minister May Be Postponed

Image
Hi everyone! Sorry for my lack of update in recent weeks. I haven't been interested in anything lately, so I didn't have much to get excited and rant about. It's quite unfortunate that all the dramas I'm looking forward to watch will either get postponed in getting released or haven't finished shooting yet. Anyway, I hope everyone is starting to enjoy the warmer weather or colder weather if you live in the southern hemisphere. I personally love summer because I can dress in thin layers and not hog my heavy jackets everywhere I go. To put it simply, I'm just a warm climate girl. =P.

Beauties Without Tears/In Love with Power Main Theme Song Released!

Image
I really love the the instrumental introduction to this song. The singing by Yuan Shan Shan and Han Dong is mediocre but the music is really lovely and soothing! I think some type of Mongolian wind instrument is used in the introduction, but I don't know name of it since I'm an absolute dumbie in terms of music. I hear it used a lot in Mongolian pop music. Wish I knew the name. =/

The Aging Process of Lu Yi in Su Dongpo + Bazaar Photoshoot with his Daughter

Image
Middle Photo: Director Wang Wenjie giving feedback on Su Dongpo's old age makeup When I watch a biographical drama, I think it's fun to see how the main character ages over the course of his/her entire life. In most dramas, the time jump, if any, only spans two different time periods and usually involves no more than 10 years. So we usually get to see the styling of the character for only two different stages. Since Su Dongpo is a bio-epic, we'll get to see the gradual transformation of the character over a period of 40 years. The actor, Lu Yi, who plays Su Dongpo, was only 31 years old at the time of shooting (he's currently 36 years old), but his character will be 66 years old by the end of this drama.

14-Minute Trailer of Su Dongpo + Personal Rant on a Famous Concubine

Image
When I first watched this trailer, I fell in love with the scene where Su Dongpo dreamt about his first wife, Wang Fu, and his subsequent recitation of the famous "Jiang Cheng Zi" poem which he composed in her memory (previously mentioned in an earlier post here ). I just love the instrumental piece that accompanies the poem recitation scene. The atmosphere, music, vibe, and feel of the entire scene is like it ought to be.
